One of my best friends got engaged last night. I can't express to you the rejoicing that happened over the phone...it was incredible. Of course because we are girls, but also because Kate and Josh have been dating for 5 years...they had waited so long for this day to come. One of the many reasons I love Kate so much is because she can make me laugh harder than anyone else I know. Maybe I shouldn't share this on a blog, but she makes me laugh hard enough to pee my pants...literally. So, of course, the story of her engagement is another instance in which her story-telling skills make me laugh hysterically.
First of all, Kate called me and I missed the call and the message she left said "Hey Emmy, it's me, Kate. Call me back it's an emergency." I knew it wasn't really an emergency because of the tone in her voice. But when I called her back, I knew why she said what she did. Here's the dialogue from last night:
Kate (picks up the phone): Hello?
Emily: Hey Kate.
Kate: Emily?
Emily: Yes.
Kate: Umm..I'm engaged!
(uncontrollable screaming, rejoicing, and a little weeping on both parts)
E:How did it happen?
K: (For the sake of space I will not enter the whole story here.)
E: Oh my goodness Kate. That's awesome. And what is the ring like?
K: Well....(when I heard this, I knew that one of Kate's marvelous explanations was soon to follow.) Okay, you know things that are three, like tri...tril...like the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit...trilogy right?
E: (Uncontrollable laughter.) You mean trinity?
K: Yes, yes. Trinity. It's like that.
E: What do you mean?
K: Well it has one big one in the middle then two little on the side. It's so gorgeous Emmy, you can't even get this at Mervyn's. (Mervyn's???)
And there was more dialogue, but again I will spare you. And that is why Kate Montana (soon to be Zegan) makes me laugh so hard. I'm so thankful for friends that can make me laugh so hard it hurts, that we can rejoice together, and weep together. Thank you Kate, for being that friend to me!
